I chose the batuko picture just to show how  Cape Verdean people usually have fun. I chose the picture  of playing vollyball just to show one of the places where Cape Verdean people play vollyball and that place is at the beach. I chose the map picture just to show the Cape Verde islands and where they are located in the map. I chose the Praia picture just to show what island from Cape Verde I’m from.

The Republic of Cape Verde is an island country, spanning an archipelago of 10 islands located in the central Atlantic Ocean, 570 kilometers off the coast of Western Africa.

(PICTURE OF PRAIA)

Praia is the capital of Cape Verde.  I was born and raised in Praia until I moved to United States at the age of 10 with my family.  Moving to the United States required me to leave behind my school, friends and some family members. However, when I moved to Cambridge I was able to bring with me some of my favorite clothes, music and my cultural traditions. In this video I want to share with all of you some of my cultural traditions like language, cooking style, music, and dances.

This is one of the dance that cape verdean people call batida or kuduro. This is one of my favorite Cape Verdean dance because since little kid I liked this dance and im good at it. There is a school tradition in Cape Verde where student from 1st grade-6th grade do a dance contest. When I was there i was the best student in dancing  kuduro and I always one the award. Now that I live in the United States i still dance kuduro but only when im at a party with my family.
